All Hoopstars players must purchase a Hoopstars playing uniform; jersey and shorts. Your child will play with this number until they need to purchase a larger size. We do not loan out singlets as over the years this has proven to be a very expensive experience for the club. Uniforms can be ordered online – https://hoopstarsbasketball.com.au/new-players/uniforms/ and a sizing chart is available to assist with getting the correct size.
Training times and venues change each season due to the availability of courts, coaches and players. Some people will not be able to make training days allocated and if we can we work find an alternate group for you to participate with. Team with coaches who want to train are given first selection on available times and locations, unfortunately this will not work out to be 1 court per team. 99.9% of training times will be 2 teams per court.
Please bring along a full water bottle, suitable sports shoes with non marking soles and preferably a basketball if you have one to your training session. Stay off the courts if a team is still training before you. Listen and follow the instruction of the coach conducting your session. The more disruptive players are the less the coach can achieve in the allocate time.
Some age groups have squad style training sessions conducted by experiences coaches. Its important for you to check your emails each week as occasionally some venues are not available for training on certain dates throughout the year.
Some teams have specific training sessions run by their coaches. These sessions are open only to the teams involved and will be advised by the coach.
New Players
Returning Players
Hoopstars tries to keep players of similar skill together across seasons and age groups. An exception to this rule is the progression from winter to summer seasons, as some players move up an age group based on the date of birth. At the end of each season, Age Group Coordinators are prompted for feedback about teams and players. In some cases certain players may be recommended for different divisions, and this will be discussed with parents accordingly.
Players wanting to progress into higher divisions are encouraged to speak to their Coach, as we have many opportunities for players to develop their skills in addition to weekly training sessions.
Player registration with Basketball Qld and Southern Districts Basketball Association is your responsibility. If your child is not registered then your child faces the possibility of not being able to play. Returning players, please take a couple of minute to check when your child’s registration is due by following the instructions below.
Returning players can check the status of their BQ Registration via the web.
1. Go to the Basketball Qld portal and log in
